CAPA: Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines showing encouraging outlook for early 2019

CAPA - Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: 'Southwest & Alaska Air: positive momentum in early 2019', stated (27-Feb-2019) Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines' outlooks for early 2019 are encouraging, with both airlines reporting solid unit revenue performances in 4Q2018. Southwest expects a rise in unit revenue of 4% to 5% in 1Q2019, while Alaska Airlines is planning for a modest decline, due to volatility in close-in fares and other reasons. Alaska Airlines chief commercial officer Andrew Harrison noted the airline's unit revenue is still expected to outperform the industry by a wide margin. [more - CAPA Analysis]
