Key news stories of the week
Qantas continued its share buy back, announced at the recent half year results meeting. The carrier plans on completing a AUD378 million (USD297 million) share repurchase allocation. Last week’s buy back included:
- 14-May-2018: 839,909 shares for a total consideration of AUD5.1 million (USD3.8 million);
- 16-May-2018: 969,507 shares for a total consideration of AUD6.0 million (USD4.5 million);
- 17-May-2018: 759,906 shares for a total consideration of AUD4.8 million (USD3.6 million);
- 18-May-2018: 958,391 shares for a total consideration of AUD6.0 million (USD4.5 million).
Qantas Group also reported that as of 02-May-2018, its foreign ownership share was 44.13%, up from 43.60% as of 29-Dec-2017. The Qantas Sale Act 1992 and the Qantas Constitution provide that foreign persons are permitted to hold relevant interests of no more than 49% of the issued share capital of the carrier.
