South Korean carriers to employ up to 4000 new employees in 2019 to meet increased travel demand

    South Korea‘s airlines plan to recruit up to 4000 new employees in 2019 due to increased demand for air travel (The Chosunilbo, 13-Feb-2019). Details include:

    • Korean Air: Recruiting 1180 new employees, +9% year-on-year;
      • Airline will also receive six Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, along with 10 other aircraft including 787-9s, 777-300ERs and A220-300s;
    • Asiana Airlines: Recruiting 750 new employees, +47%;
      • Introducing four A350s and two A321neo aircraft to operate new long haul services;
    • JEJU air: Recruiting 300 new employees, compared to 180 in 2018;
    • T’way Air: Recruiting 480 new employees;
    • Eastar Jet: Recruiting 350 new employees;
    • Air Busan: Recruiting 250 new employees;
    • Air Seoul: Recruiting 100 new employees.
