South Korean airline pax up 8% to 117.5m in 2018, intl pax up 8% while domestic pax decline 3%

    South Korea‘s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport reported (27-Jan-2019) the following airline traffic highlights for the 12 months ended Dec-2018:

    • Passengers: 117.5 million, +7.5% year-on-year;
      • Domestic: 31.6 million, -2.5%;
        • Korean Air: 7.0 million, -12.9%;
        • Asiana: 6.1 million, +2.3%;
        • LCCs: 18.5 million, +0.5%;
          • Jeju Air: 4.7 million, +0.7%;
          • Air Busan: 4.5 million, +8.6%;
          • Jin Air: 3.5 million, -7.0%;
          • Eastar Jet: 3.0 million, +0.9%;
          • T’way Air: 2.9 million, -2.1%;
      • International: 85.9 million, +8.4%;
        • Southeast Asia: 33.2 million, +12.0%;
        • Japan: 21.4 million, +12.1%;
        • China: 16.1 million, +15.6%;
        • Europe: 6.0 million, +12.9%;
        • Americas: 5.3 million, +3.4%;
        • Oceania: 2.9 million, +1.9%;
        • Others: 996,808, +0.6%;
