South Korea MOLIT: Airline pax up 6% in 1Q2019, strong growth in international LCC traffic

    South Korea‘s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) reported (30-Apr-2019) the following airline traffic highlights for the three months ended Mar-2019:

    • Passengers: 30.6 million, +6.4% year-on-year;
      • Domestic: 7.6 million, +4.4%;
        • Korean Air: 1.7 million, +5.7%;
        • Asiana Airlines: 1.5 million, +7.3%;
        • LCCs: 4.4 million, +2.9%;
          • Jeju Air: 1.1 million, +4.0%;
          • Air Busan: 1.1 million, -4.0%;
          • T’way Air: 738,902, +10.7%;
          • Eastar Jet: 735,586, +6.6%;
          • Jin Air: 718,015, +1.4%;
      • International: 23.0 million, +7.1%;

          • Japan: 5.9 million, +4.1%;
          • China: 4.1 million, +14.4%;
