Smiths Detection launches first Australian trial of advanced CT technology at Melbourne Airport

15 January, 2019

Smiths Detection launched (15-Jan-2019) a trial of new CT and automated lane technology at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. The technology allows baggage to be screened without the need to remove electronic devices or carry on liquids from baggage. Melbourne Airport chief of aviation Simon Gandy said: "As Australia's busiest 24/7 airport we will continue to find ways to implement new technology and upgrades that will improve the traveller experience from the road to the runway... The quality of X ray imagery and software functionality is superior to what we have seen previously and will certainly shape the way the aviation industry works in the future". [more - original PR]
