SKY Airlines aims to launch operations in Peru by mid 2019, appoints GM for Peru

SKY Airlines plans to commence operations in the Peru market with at least four A320neo aircraft from mid 2019, marking its first step in international expansion (El Mercurio/Latercera, 02-Aug-2018). SKY Peru will be managed by José Raul Vargas, appointed as GM for Peru. Mr Vargas previously served as director at LATAM Airlines Peru. SKY Airlines is targeting a market share of at least 20% by 2021, according to CEO Holger Paulmann. Lima will offer the airline “much greater scope and coverage” on an international level, compared to its base in Santiago. Mr Paulmann noted SKY expects to serve at least four Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America, and has not ruled out the possibility of partnerships with local airlines.
