SKY Airline: Airfares in Argentina to drop by up to 40% due to excess supply

8 July, 2020

SKY Airline (Chile) president Holger Paulmann commented on Argentina's aviation market, stating he expects air fares to drop by 30% to 40% once air travel resumes (Perfil, 06-Jul-2020). However, he noted that airport charges will remain the same, which will only lead to a 20% reduction in air travel costs to passengers. Mr Paulmann stated taxes for South American services from Argentina total USD70. Adding: "Excess supply will remain for the next 18 to 24 months… With luck we will have a 60% demand in Dec-2020… [and] 80% in Dec-2021".
