SilkAir granted approval to transfer Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to Australia for parking

30 September, 2019

Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) granted approval for SilkAir, a part of Singapore Airlines Group, to fly six Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to Alice Springs for temporary storage (Bloomberg, 27-Sep-2019). According to CASA, the aircraft will be required to use a "flight profile which ensures there can be no activation of the MCAS [Manoeuvring Characteristics Augmentation System]" and will be flown by experienced pilots who have training should an MCAS related event occur. The first aircraft is due to arrive on 30-Sep-2019.
