Sicilian Airways (Aerolinee Siciliane) reportedly plans to launch operations, backed by the Autonomous Sicilian Regional Government (Italiavola/mobilita.org/TTGItalia, 13/14/16-Dec-2019). According to a business plan posted on Aerolinee Siciliane's Facebook account, the start up would operate services from Catania and Palermo to Milan, Bologna and Rome, later adding Venice, Turin, Trapani and Comiso, with a maintenance base in Comiso Airport developed in the first 18 months of operations and ultimately employing around 6000 staff. The project also includes the incorporation of a mix of A320 family and Embraer E175/E190 equipment, with six aircraft in the first six months and increasing to 13 after 18 months.
