Schiphol Airport looking to limit widebody activity

Royal Schiphol Group director of aviation marketing, cargo and customer experience Maaike van der Windt reported plans to introduce a limit on widebody activity at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport from spring 2019 (luchtvaartnieuws.nl, 08-Nov-2018). With increasing use of widebody aircraft to meet airport slot restrictions, more larger aircraft have to be handled at aircraft stands not connected to the terminal and “no longer enough connected gates during the busy morning period to meet demand”, Ms van der Windt argued. The new pier construction project will lessen the impact of handling the aircraft from the end of 2019, she added.
