Schiphol Airport continues hyperloop R&D partnership to become multi-modal hub in western Europe

10 June, 2020

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport announced (10-Jun-2020) plans to expand its involvement in hyperloop R&D by continuing the partnership with Dutch hyperloop company Hardt Hyperloop. Since the partnership commenced, the parties have conducted a joint study demonstrating hyperloop's role in Schiphol becoming a sustainable multi-modal hub in western Europe. The study shows how hyperloop can emerge as a new sustainable model for high speed travel, replacing a share of Schiphol's short haul route network by 2050. It proposes an initial network that connects Schiphol with the main neighbouring airports of Germany, Belgium, France and the UK that currently have direct air connections. According to the study, hyperloop would be able to substitute up to 12.5 million of those passengers travelling through Schiphol by 2050. [more - original PR]
