SATC: Interstate travellers spend approximately three times as much as SA intrastate visitors

13 July, 2020

South Australian Tourism Commission CEO Rodney Harrex stated (10-Jul-2020) interstate travellers spend approximately three times as much per trip compared to intrastate travellers, are more likely to pay for accommodation and participate in paid tours, "so we need them back as soon as it is safe to do so". Mr Harrex stated: "Before the bushfires and COVID-19, tourism was worth a record AUD8.1 billion (USD5.6 billion) to the state's economy, employing more than 40,000 people in about 18,000 businesses. Now more than ever, we need South Australians to get out and about, and help get our tourism sector up and running again". [more - original PR]
