Samoa Airways signed (17-Jan-2019) an MoU with Air Lease Corporation for the lease of one new Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, scheduled for delivery in Mar-2019. The aircraft will feature new Boeing Sky Interior, is equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B engines and have capacity of 189 seats with 16 business and 173 economy seats. Samoa's Prime Minister Tuila'epa Malielegaoi said the carrier's current 737-800 aircraft will be returned upon arrival of the new 737 MAX 9, with a second aircraft expected to be delivered in Jun-2019.
