Samoa Airways to operate on a 'cash up front basis', ending previous practice of offering credit

15 November, 2017

Samoa's Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Dr Sailele Malielegaoi stated (16-Nov-2017) that for Samoa Airways to survive, it is necessary "for us to clean up our act". The carrier will "operate on cash up front basis" without exceptions and will not continue the practice of Polynesian Airlines of providing credit to religious and fundraising groups, or allow members of parliament to fly supporters internationally. The Prime Minister added that the carrier "represents more than just tourists who can afford to pay airfares to visit Samoa and inject fresh cash to our economy", while noting that tourism provides the largest input into the Samoan economy.
