Samoa Airways plans to commence operations between the islands of Upolu and Savai'i by the end of Mar-2020 (Radio New Zealand, 13-Feb-2020). The services are expected to help develop the Savai'i tourism market. Samoa Hotel Association president Tupai Saleimoa Vaai commented: "From the industry side we are ready to come to the table with Samoa Airways and make this work".
