Sabah‘s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Christina Liew said the state is on track to record 3.85 million tourist arrivals and MYR8.15 billion (USD1.94 billion) in tourism revenue in 2018 (New Straits Times, 12-Nov-2018). Tourist arrivals increased 5.1% year-on-year to 2.86 million in the first nine months of 2018. Arrivals from China increased 40.2% to 464,271 and arrivals from South Korea increased 8.3% to 244,230. Ms Liew commented: “Air accessibility growth is one of the main factors leading to the increase in the number of international tourists”.
