SAA marks 60th anniversary of Perth service

South African Airways (SAA) and Perth Airport marked (28-Nov-2017) the 60th anniversary of the airline's Perth service. The airline commenced operations to Perth via Mauritius and the Cocos Islands with Douglas DC-7 aircraft in Nov-1957 and was the first foreign airline to operate to Perth. The carrier now operates daily Johannesburg-Perth service with A340-300 equipment and offers connections across Australia through codeshare partner Virgin Australia. Perth Airport records approximately 40,000 passengers from South Africa p/a and more than 72,000 Australians travelled from Perth to South Africa in 2017. [more - original PR]
