Ryerson University and Bombardier teaming on project to develop smart, reconfigurable aircraft cabin

11 February, 2020

Ryerson University announced (03-Feb-2020) Professor Fengfeng (Jeff) Xi has been named the NSERC/Bombardier senior industrial research chair in advanced interiors and systems. Under a major new research project, the Ryerson University professor of aerospace engineering is working with Bombardier a cabin design prototype that is reconfigurable based on customer demands using smart technologies. The five year project will focus on four main areas - seating, noise control, visual experience and air quality - using sensors that monitor each passenger's comfort and then relay this feedback to the control system so it can make adjustments. This technology will combine with customisable, modular seating that can accommodate multiple body sizes and shapes to enhance the inflight experience for travellers. [more - original PR]
