Russia‘s Minister for Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said the niche market for supersonic aircraft is “not large”, considering the regulatory limitations to deployment (Interfax, 09-Jan-2019). Mr Manturov added: “The creation of a new, commercially effective supersonic civil aircraft is the biggest challenge for modern, worldwide civil aviation”. Central AeroHydrodynamic Institutedirector general Kirill Sypalo said the serial manufacture of supersonic aircraft in Russia is expected to commence in 2030, as previously reported by CAPA.
