Russia reaches agreement with Japan on increase of frequency to 174 times weekly

Russia's Ministry of Transport Department of State Policy in Civil Aviation Director Svetlana Petrova said an MoU signed between Japan and Russia increases Russia-Japan frequency from 80 to 174 times weekly, provides Russian carriers with Tokyo Haneda Airport slots and Russian cargo carriers with the right to operate to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul and US with fifth freedom rights (TASS, 23-Sep-2019). Ms Petrova said: "Moreover, the Russian side was able to convince the aeronautical authorities of Japan to provide Russian airlines with the opportunity of operate passenger services from Russia to China via Japan. This is an unprecedented step, never before were fifth freedom rights for passenger services provided by Japanese colleagues".
