Rostourism forecasts decline in interest for Finland travel due to visa regime changes

3 September, 2019

Russia's Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) Deputy Head Sergey Korneev expects Finland to partly lose popularity among Russian tourists following the introduction of stricter visa requirements from 01-Sep-2019 (TASS, 31-Aug-2019). Mr Korneev said Finland was of interest to first time international travellers due to its proximity and visa regime. As previously reported by CAPA, Russia's President Vladimir Putin expects the number of Finns visiting Russia will increase after Russia starts issuing electronic visas for St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region to EU citizens on 01-Oct-2019.
