Romania's Govt approves Otopeni Airport development programme

Romania's Government approved (29-Aug-2018) technical and economic indicators of the strategic development programme for Bucharest Otopeni International Airport. As previously reported by CAPA, the project includes construction of a new passenger terminal capable, new runways, aircraft platforms and associated airport infrastructure, representing investment of RON4.8 billion (EUR1.0 billion). Government spokesperson Nelu Barbu outlined the following development details (stiripesurse.ro, 29-Aug-2018):

  • 100,000sqm terminal in two modules, capable of handling 1500 passengers per hour;
  • 650,000sqm apron area, with 56 new aircraft parking positions;
  • 266,000sqm of new runway infrastructure;
