Antigua and Barbuda Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst reportedly stated Richard Branson could invest in LIAT (The Labour Spokesman, 03-May-2019). Mr Hurst stated that Mr Branson: "Is not going to plow his resources into a smaller LIAT that would not be able to achieve a profitable status. There just is not [enough] passengers and other kinds of possibilities to make LIAT profitable within the Caribbean". Mr Branson's plans reportedly includes wet leasing aircraft to LIAT and operating to Jamaica and Haiti from the US, diversifying markets from the Southeast Caribbean region.
