Rex to increase Griffith-Sydney frequency, exit Mildura-Sydney route

12 September, 2018

Regional Express (Rex) entered (12-Sep-2018) a five year partnership agreement with Griffith City Council valid until 30-Jun-2023. The partnership sees Rex exit Mildura-Sydney route and redeploy aircraft, crew and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport slots to increase Griffith-Sydney frequency from five to six times per week from 29-Oct-2018, adding around 17,000 seats p/a on the route. Rex will also introduce an AUD129 (USD92.5) 'Rex Community Fare', available on 25% of seats between Griffith and Sydney for 30 day advanced bookings. The carrier expects changes to create a new service linkage between Griffith and Broken Hill, adding benefits to both communities. Rex stated decision to suspend Mildura-Sydney service is the result of increased airport charges by Mildura Airport and the commencement of the new agreement with Griffith City Council. The suspension will leave Mildura-Sydney route void of service, according to OAG. [more - original PR]
