Rex condemns King Island Council over statements related to the carrier and airport charges

Regional Express (Rex) issued (06-Jul-2018) a vehement condemnation of a press release issued by the King Island Council (KIC) in response to Rex's objection of KIC's decision to increase charges at King Island Airport. Rex reported King Island is one of its most marginal routes, operating at a loss "for much of the year" with only 14,000 passengers p/a. Rex also stated that if the council doubles airport charges, this will add AUD127,000 (USD94,500) in costs and "will surely make the services in its current form completely unviable".
