Report: Carriers in Venezuela illegally sell tickets in USD

20 September, 2018

Venezuela's Porlamar Del Caribe Gen S Marino Airport reportedly has carriers selling tickets only in USD, causing some passengers without USD currency to become stranded at the airport (El Nacional, 19-Sep-2018). Venezuelan law prevents carriers from selling tickets in other currency than the VEF. As previously reported by CAPA, Venezuelan carriers are struggling to acquire aviation spares due to the currency's heavy devaluation.
