French Polynesia administrative court approves less restrictive licence for Islands Airline

30 April, 2019

French Polynesia's administrative court issued a ruling in favour of the Islands Airline bid to operate under a licence excluding a phrase which enables the government to determine its conditions of operation (Radio NZ, 29-Apr-2019). The administrative court upheld an expert opinion that the government's powers were too broad. The carrier's operating licence had been subject to earlier legal action, after the government failed to act on the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) application within the legally required period. The initial AOC was granted in Oct-2018.
