Remote and digital ATC the ‘technology of the future’, says Deutsche Flugsicherung CEO

Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) CEO Klaus-Dieter Scheurle stated (18-Apr-2018) remote and digital ATC “is the technology of the future”. Mr Scheurle reiterated Saarbruecken Airport‘s ATC services will be carried out from Leipzig, 400km away, as of winter 2018. “By using staff more efficiently under a single operator concept, we can achieve long term cost reductions… at an even higher level of safety”, Mr Scheurle said. As previously reported by CAPA, the Leipzig remote facility will also provide control for Dresden Airport and Erfurt Airport in the future. [more – original PR – German]
