Queensland Tourism & Events welcomes record high international visitor spend

Queensland Tourism & Events reported (19-Jun-2019) record visitor spend for international visitors in Queensland for the year ending Mar-2019. According to International Visitor Survey results, total visitor arrivals increased 14% and spent a record AUD1.7 billion (USD1.2 billion), an 8.6% increase. State Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones noted the state reached a 27.6% increase in visitor spend from Chinese visitors and increased visitation from the US. Ms Jones attributed the state's growth to "partnering with the private sector to invest more than ever before in this sector" and that "our strategy is working". [more - original PR]
