Queensland State Government: Tigerair Whitsunday Coast suspension 'a bit of a kick in the guts'

8 February, 2018

Queensland State Government Tourism Minister Kate Jones said the decision by Tigerair Australia to suspend Brisbane-Whitsunday Coast and Brisbane-Perth services from 01-Mar-2018 is a "a bit of a kick in the guts" for the Whitsundays region, although the decision is related to "aircraft availability, not demand for the route" (Whitsunday Times, 07-Feb-2018). Ms Jones said the route was operating at 80% load factors and Tourism Whitsundays is "working to reinstate the flights as soon as possible."
