Queensland Govt announces funding for Emerald Airport upgrades

    Queensland‘s Government announced (05-Mar-2019) up to AUD1.5 million (USD1.1 million) in funding to upgrade Emerald Airport, with funds drawn from the AUD295 million (USD209 million) ‘Building our Regions’ (BoR) programme. Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning Cameron Dick commented: “The Emerald Airport project will see upgrades to the general aviation area, which will encourage increased aviation activity to the region… Works will involve reconstructing the general and eastern aviation apron, and the refuelling area, in addition to widening the taxiway apron”. The total investment for the airport upgrade is AUD3 million (USD2.1 million) with AUD1.5 million funded via BoR and Central Highlands Regional Council contributing AUD103,615 (USD73,000). The Australian Government will contribute the remaining AUD1.4 million (USD990,000).
