Qatar Airways acquires stake in JetSuite, JetBlue to increase investment

10 April, 2018

Qatar Airways acquired (10-Apr-2018) a minority stake in US private aviation company JetSuite and, indirectly, in "semi-private" air service provider JetSuiteX. Qatar Airways aims to support the growth of JetSuite's private aviation business, which currently focuses on light and very light jets. JetSuiteX operates a fleet of Embraer ERJ 135 aircraft from private terminals in California and Nevada, "at a price competitive with commercial travel". Qatar Airways' investment will enable faster fleet expansion and the ability to reach new destinations, including the potential to bring the "semi-private" model to additional US regions. JetBlue Airways is also a stakeholder in JetSuite and JetSuiteX and will be increasing its investment. JetSuite and JetSuiteX CEO Alex Wilcox said the investments by Qatar Airways and JetBlue "will allow us to execute our vision of offering a superior service to the forgotten short haul US air market even more quickly".
