Qantas retires final Boeing 747-400, retains six 747-400ERs

    Qantas, via its official Twitter account, retired (12-Oct-2019) one Boeing 747-400 (VH-OJU). As previously reported by CAPA, the aircraft was first purchased in Jan-2000 and has operated a total of 90,834 hours. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, this was the final 747-400 in the fleet, with the carrier retaining six 747-400ERs. The aircraft has been taken by Rolls-Royce and will act as a testbed for new engine development.
