Qantas requests IASC vary determinations to PNG allowing more codeshares with Air Nuigini

18 February, 2018

Qantas replied (18-Feb-2018) to a letter from Australia's International Air Services Commission (IASC) inviting the carrier to apply for an extension of authorisations permitting it to codeshare with Air Niugini to Papua New Guinea (PNG).

  • Qantas stated it wishes to continue to place its code on Air Niugini's Port Moresby-Sydney and Port Moresby-Brisbane services, and Air Niugini to place its code on Qantas Brisbane-Port Moresby service;
  • In addition, Qantas plans to add its code to Air Niugini services between Port Moresby and Cairns, and Port Moresby and Townsville. Accordingly, Qantas requests a variation to IASC determinations, which allocate a total of 1888 seats per week for passenger services to PNG to permit the utilisation of capacity for codeshare services with Air Niugini.
