Qantas' economics of regional Australia airfares and discount programme

Qantas has extended its discount fare programme on airfares to/from regional airports in Australia. Recipients have access to discounts of at least 20% and up to 30% on return fares for travel from local airports to the nearest capital city or major town. Introduced as part of a 12 month trial in Dec-2017, the programme targets regional cities with a high proportion of corporate travel, specifically from the resources industry.

The programme covers the following routes:

  • Western Australia for return service to Perth:
    • Broome;
    • Kalgoorlie;
    • Karratha;
    • Paraburdoo;
    • Port Hedland;
    • Newman;
  • Queensland for return service to Brisbane:
    • Mount Isa (return travel to Townsville);
    • Cloncurry (return travel to Townsville);
    • Moranbah;
    • Longreach;
    • Blackall;
    • Barcaldine.
