Qantas applies for additional Japanese capacity

Qantas Airways announced (16-Sep-2019) its intention to apply to the International Air Services Commission (IASC) for additional capacity to Japan. Details include:

  • Melbourne-Tokyo Haneda: Daily, operating with A330 equipment;
  • Sydney-Tokyo Haneda: Daily, operating with a mix of A330 and Boeing 789 equipment.

As previously reported by CAPA, the Japanese Government plans to open up 50 additional daily slot pairings at Tokyo Haneda Airport from the end of Mar-2020, to be split equally between Japanese and foreign carriers, ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. [more - original PR]
