Qantas Airways launches first zero waste service

Qantas announced (07-May-2019) a Sydney-Adelaide frequency on 07-May-2019 operated and produced no landfill waste. The carrier plans to cut 100 million pieces of single use plastics by late 2020 and eliminate 75% of its waste by late 2021. Qantas Domestic CEO Andrew David noted the airline would produce 34kg of waste, 150 tonnes annually, on the same route. 1000 single use plastics were replaced during the service, with the zero waste service to be 100% carbon offset.
