Punta Cana International Airport landside and cargo director of operations Rafael Alberto Smith stated he is hopeful the government of the Dominican Republic will approve the airport's US pre clearance facility by Nov-2019 (Routes Online, 12-Feb-2019). As previously reported by CAPA, the US selected the airport for pre clearance in 2016. Mr Smith stated the airport has a "a lot of experience" in the US market and is expecting "big response" from passengers once the facility has been approved.
