Productivity Commission finds Sydney Airport’s cap and curfew creates more noise than designed to minimise

Australia‘s Productivity Commission stated (06-Feb-2019) Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport‘s cap and curfew is inefficient and exacerbates noise pollution due to delays. The commission said: “The movement cap and curfew [in Sydney] sometimes result in more noise and emissions, in spite of their noise reduction objective… The objective of managing the effect of aircraft noise on local residents should be balanced with reforms that benefit the community at large, including through improvements to the efficiency of Sydney Airport”.
