Primera Travel Group CEO: ‘In the last few months the airline market has struggled’

Primera Travel Group CEO Andri Már Ingólfsson commented on the suspension of operations by Primera Air, stating: “The most painful part is seeing all this immense groundwork that’s been laid just disappear, for all the good staff who have been working at it for so long” (icelandmonitor.mbl.is, 03-Oct-2018). He further confirmed the airline was in the process of securing financing: “We were undergoing discussion with a new lead investor whom we liked”. Mr Ingólfsson also highlighted issues the aviation industry has been faced with: “In the last few months the airline market has struggled, oil prices have doubled in the last 12 months and price cuts on the markets have been much faster than people expected”.
