PNG Accident Investigation Commission: No 737 MAX yet in operation in Papua New Guinea

PNG Accident Investigation Commission (PNG AIC) chief commissioner Hubert Namani stated there are no Boeing 737 MAX model aircraft in operation in Papua New Guinea, with Air Niugini operating the Boeing 737NG in its fleet (postcourier.com, 13-Mar-2019). According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Air Niugini has one 737-700 and one 737-800 in its fleet. The carrier also has four 737 MAX 8s on order, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2020. Mr Namani said the PNG AIC will closely monitor all statements released by authorities investigating the recent crashes of two 737 MAX aircraft.
