PIA seeks approval to commence nonstop services to the US

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), via its official Twitter account, stated (13-Mar-2019) PIA's CEO Arshad Mahmood Malik met with US Consul General to Pakistan JoAnne Wagner to request assistance securing approval for the launch of nonstop service to destinations in the US, including New York, Chicago and Houston (Business Recorder/Ary News, 13-Mar-2019). Air Marshal Malik said operating to the US "via any enroute transit makes the flight economics unviable" for PIA. He informed the Consul General that PIA plans to acquire new aircraft.
