Perth Airport new screening systems allow pax to leave electronic devices and aerosols in bags

Perth Airport launched (May-2019) a new security trial, including a new body scanner and Rapiscan 920CT X ray machine for screening carry on luggage. The new X ray system uses 3D technology, allowing passengers to leave aerosol cans, laptops and tablet devices in their hand luggage, creating for a more streamlined process and less hassle for passengers. The body scanner can detect all foreign matter, both metal and non metal, to within a millimetre of the skin, and then pinpoint it on an outline of the person's body illustrated in the form of a 'stickperson' avatar to protect privacy.
