Pakistan International Airlines recording USD22m in losses per month

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) chairman and CEO Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik reported the following operational performance details for PIA (Daily Pakistan/History of PIA/Nation, 14/15-Jan-2019):

  • PIA recording approximately PKR3 billion (USD21.5 million) in losses per month;
  • Six out of 32 aircraft in PIA's fleet generate revenue at present;
  • Nine aircraft in working condition have been grounded for the past nine months;
  • 18,000 personnel on PIA's payroll;
  • Seven routes recording losses.
