NZ Tourism: Visitor arrivals from Indonesia to double by 2024

NZ Tourism reported (16-Jul-2018) visitor arrivals from Indonesia to New Zealand more than doubled to 24,000 p/a in the last seven years and are expected to double again to 50,000 p/a by 2024. Other highlights include:

  • Holiday travellers make up 17,000 of the 24,000 and those visiting friends and relatives account for 3000;
  • The average length of stay is 18 days for all travellers and 10 days for those on holiday;
  • 57% of visitors are aged between 25 and 54;
  • 74% travel from Indonesia to New Zealand via Australia, 18% via Singapore and 5% via Kuala Lumpur. The launch of year round nonstop service in Jun-2018 is expected to change route preferences. [more - original PR]
