NT Tourism announces USD21m tourism funding boost, including USD8.5m to work with airlines

    NT Tourism announced (13-Feb-2018) a AUD26.6 million (USD20.9 million) boost to the SMART marketing package as a part of the Northern Territory (NT) Government’s ‘Turbocharging Tourism’ stimulus package. The boost includes AUD10.9 million (USD8.5 million) to work specifically with airlines. The boost will strengthen the viability of established air-routes and increase demand to establish new routes and attract new carriers. Other funding includes:

    • AUD3.8 million (USD3.0 million) for cooperative marketing packages to immediate drive sales;
    • AUD1.6 million (USD1.3 million) to boost the NT’s holiday appeal through destination marketing;
    • AUD2.4 million (USD1.9 million) to promote the NT’s attributes including natural encounters;
    • AUD1.9 million (USD1.5 million) to make NT a destination for Australian military history;
    • AUD1.6 million (USD1.3 million) to develop and promote arts and cultural attractions and experiences;
