NT Airports CEO: Qantas frequency cuts from Darwin 'only a temporary reduction'

23 January, 2019

Northern Territory Airports (NT Airports) CEO Ian Kew, commenting on Qantas' decision to suspend frequencies from Darwin to Australia's eastern coast from Apr/Jun-2019, said the decision is "only a temporary reduction of capacity from markets where we've seen a lot of business traffic that's fallen off" (NT News/ABC, 23/24-Jan-2019). Mr Kew added: "Qantas have been upfront with us and we understand why they have made this decision". Qantas and Jetstar account for a total 30.2% of aircraft movements at Darwin Airport as of 21-Jan-2019, according to OAG.
