New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian invited (22-Aug-2017) a Japanese travel trade delegation to visit the ‘Vivid Sydney’ event in 2018, as part of a plan to build on the record number of tourists who took part in the 2017 festival. In 2017, 5062 Vivid Sydney packages were sold to visitors from Japan, up 7.5% year-on-year. Japan is the sixth largest market for international visitors to NSW. In the year ended Mar-2017, NSW welcomed 165,000 Japanese visitors who stayed 3.1 million nights and contributed an estimated AUD339 million (USD267.5 million) to the NSW visitor economy.
