Northern Mariana Islands will not accept additional air services due to airport infrastructure

Northern Mariana Islands aviation authority suspended all applications for additional international air services to the country, following a 48% year-on-year increase in arrival traffic during Apr-2017 (Radio NZ, 16-Jun-2017). Commonwealth Ports Authority, operator of the islands’ airports, is concerned airport infrastructure is not able to handle the tourist influx. The suspension will take effect until Aug-2017.
